Palad solved the challenges at the lobby of Kuopio Music Center with playful TUMA sofas

Katariina Kummala, the former director of the Kuopio Music Center and the Kuopio City Orchestra, contacted the Kuopio-based designer furniture brand Palad, because the unfurnished lobby space of the Kuopio Music Center did not serve the versatile offering in the best possible way. The space needed multi-purpose, easy-to-move, and beautiful furniture.

“Palad furniture solved the lack of counter space in the Music Center’s lobby and coatroom area, creating more seating space for customers. At the same time, an eye-catching lobby space was obtained. The space is used in many ways, so it is useful that the furniture can be modified when necessary, in a way that suits each situation,” says Kummala.

Kuopio Music Center is an international meeting and concert center, where three art schools operate. The customer and student base consists of people of different ages and sizes, whose comfort is important to the Kuopio Music Center.

In the entrance hall on Kuopio Music Centre there are Palad TUMA-sofas. At the customer’s request, we added wheels to the sofas, making them easier to move. Half TUMA sofas in front of the mirror create the illusion of a larger space.

The sofas in the lobby serve the Music Center’s customers both at concerts and other events. The seat depth of the sofas varies so that everyone can find a suitable sized, comfortable place to sit.

The gently curving TUMA sofa invites you to spend a relaxing moment

Local furniture brand, Palad, designed a furniture set of TUMA sofas for the lobby of the Kuopio Music Center, which serves students and musicians as well as customers and congress guests, from children to the elderly.

“In front of the coatroom, we needed a place where you can sit, for example, to change shoes or dress a child. We often visit the Kuopio Music Center as customers, and it’s wonderful to see how people have taken the furniture as their own,” say the designers of Palad, the artist-architect couple Partanen & Lamusuo.

TUMA sofas with their soft, rounded design invite you to spend a relaxing moment. The seat depth of the sofas varies so that everyone can find a suitable-sized, comfortable place to sit. The playfully cheerful furniture brings joy to users of all ages.

In the lobby area, in front of the walls with mirrors, semicircular TUMA sofas were placed. The mirror completes the furniture. The furniture solution gives the space its essence and airiness.

Easy-to-care artificial leather upholstery was chosen for the music center’s TUMA sofas, which can be cleaned quickly. The furniture, designed by the requirements of public spaces, can withstand even hard use and will not be startled by children’s games.

The sofas were customized according to the customer’s needs

The customer wanted furniture that would be easy to move around. Palad solved the wish by designing wheels for TUMA sofas with fixed legs in the standard collection.

The wheels make it easy to move the sofas so that the space can be adapted to different uses. The sturdy wheels are easy to lock, so the sofas stay firmly in place. Conveniently movable furniture makes the lobby dynamic and lively.

The Palad furniture collection, designed for a genuine need, expands organically, so the TUMA sofas with wheels were added to the Palad standard collection.

TUMA sofas are a sustainable choice because the look of the sofas can be updated and the furniture can be repaired if necessary. Palad is a long-term partner in the purchase and maintenance of furniture: the furniture can be delivered to Palad’s production facility to be reupholstered or upholstered.

”Palad furniture solved the lack of counter space in the Music Center’s narikka lobby and created more seating space for customers. At the same time, a rhythmic lobby space was obtained. The space is used in many ways, so it’s a good thing that the furniture can be modified when necessary, in a way that suits each situation. ”
