Veistos™ | surface

Veistos™ is a unique surface material that combines the artist’s touch, an innovative digital carving method, and recycled rescue birch plywood. Made-to-measure, Veistos™ is highly versatile and suitable for both large-scale surfaces and detailed applications. It is available in two tones: a light birch shade that brings brightness to the space, and a charred dark tone that adds depth.

Veistos™ brings the ART collection’s signature 21st-century rococo aesthetic to wall surfaces, built-in elements, and furniture. Its three-dimensional, organic waves—stylized to follow the natural grain of the wood—create depth and movement, making Veistos™ not only a distinctive surface material but also a work of art. The sculptural surface interacts with light and shadow, changing its appearance depending on the lighting conditions.

Veistos™ can be used to create unique surfaces and furniture for homes, offices, hotels, cafés, restaurants, and public spaces. It is equally suited for large-scale applications such as wall panels, where the three-dimensional pattern flows seamlessly across multiple panels to form a unified whole.

In both fixed and movable furniture, Veistos™ adds individuality and a sense of natural movement. It is particularly well-suited for vertical surfaces, such as reception desks, counters, service fronts, room dividers, railings, and cladding. It can also be used in kitchen islands, headboards, and other furniture elements. The material can be shaped into custom elements, including logos, lettering, and sculpted details.

The development of Veistos™ combines decades of experience with wood as an artistic, architectural, and interior material with innovative digital processing, refined through hand finishing.

The form of Veistos™ evolves step by step, guided by the characteristics of recycled birch plywood. Organic, flowing shapes are carved from reclaimed material sourced from demolished buildings, interiors, and construction sites—giving new life to surplus plywood as a boundary-breaking material between art and design.

A custom-developed digital tool and processing method enable the scaling of Veistos™ surfaces to different sizes. The final character is created through hand finishing, ensuring that each piece is unique. Every Veistos™ work is numbered, making it identifiable and traceable to its material origin.

Veistos™ has been developed as part of a project funded by the Economic Development Centre of Eastern Finland and the European Union, aiming to promote innovative use of material flows and the development of high-quality surface materials.
