Kitchen Island´s Veistos™
Kitchen Island´s Veistos™
When the client first stepped into the Palad Showroom, their attention was drawn to the sculpted surface of a staircase railing. The three-dimensional, organically carved texture sparked curiosity: what would a similar surface look like in their own home that was under construction?
The idea stayed with them, and soon they ordered a custom-made Veistos™ in a natural light birch tone, which they installed as the front panel of their new kitchen island. The unique sculpted surface turns the island into a defining element that shapes the atmosphere of the entire space and invites a second look.
The handcrafted finish brings authenticity, warmth, and a human touch to the interior. Each Veistos™ is a unique, numbered piece of art. The kitchen island Veistos™, one of the first custom implementations of the sculpted surface, received the serial number 2. The numbering also allows the origin of the rescue birch plywood used in the surface to be traced.
The client was highly satisfied with the result and began planning to use the sculpted surface in other furnishings throughout the home. The Veistos™ surface can be used as a standalone feature or as a unifying design element that connects furniture and spaces into a cohesive whole.

The kitchen island opens toward the living area, creating a soft boundary between the spaces. Rather than serving purely as a work surface, it functions as an informal gathering point at the heart of the home—a place to pause when there is no rush.
The Veistos™ surface is positioned like a spatial artwork between the kitchen and living area, making the island a natural focal point where it is easy to sit and gather. On the living room side, two white wooden bar stools with soft seat cushions were placed in front of the island. Their backless design complements the composition and allows the sculpted surface to remain fully visible.
Lighting installed beneath the countertop highlights the Veistos™ surface. The warm-toned light brings out the light birch texture and enhances the sense of space. Veistos™ integrates seamlessly with the island’s white end panels and light wooden countertop, which frame the sculptural surface and emphasize its artistic character.
The same architectural language continues throughout the kitchen. Upper cabinets above the worktop are set deeper than the surrounding cabinetry, and integrated lighting highlights the clean lines. Together with the framed Veistos™ island, these recessed elements create a cohesive architectural whole.
Veistos™ is a unique surface material that combines the artist’s hand, a distinctive digital sculpting method, and recycled rescue birch plywood. Made-to-measure, Veistos™ works across scales—from kitchen islands and furniture to wall surfaces and sculpted details. It is available in light natural birch or a deep, charred finish.
Veistos™ brings the 21st-century rococo, familiar from the Palad ART collection, into the interior through organic curves and a sense of movement. The form follows the grain of the wood, creating a layered, living surface where light and shadow shift throughout the day. It merges artistic expression with the functionality of a wooden surface—adding warmth, depth, and a timeless yet modern character.
The form evolves in dialogue with the material. It begins with digital modeling, allowing the proportions to be adapted to different spaces and uses. The three-dimensional structure is then carved from the birch plywood, following its natural grain and variation. Each piece is finished by hand and individually numbered, resulting in a durable, living surface that ages beautifully.
In every Veistos™, reclaimed wood is given a new role. Rescue birch plywood—sourced from demolished buildings, interiors, and construction surplus—gains a new life and extended lifespan. Its use goes beyond the surface, embodying the idea that materials retain value beyond their first use. The material’s history becomes part of the piece, even as it transforms into something entirely new.
The Veistos™ kitchen island created for this home illustrates how a single material can redefine an entire space. For the client, it brought not only aesthetics but also a story—visible in every curve and in the living texture of the wood. Elements like these form the true heart of a home: enduring, meaningful, and elevating everyday life.
