Rupiikki continues the 21st-century rococo design language of the ART collection, combining a sculptural aesthetic with an ingenious structure. Durable, adaptable, and distinctly contemporary, this piece of furniture is equally suited to homes, offices, and public spaces. Rupiikki is like a spatial sculpture, revealing its thoughtful design layer by layer.

Hand-carved from recycled birch, the Rupiikki seating unit brings together nine separate stools into one harmonious whole. Like all furniture pieces by the Palad design brand, Rupiikki was created to meet a genuine need: situations where multiple seats are required in a small space for different occasions. Rupiikki effortlessly transforms from a single cube into eight triangular stools and one larger seat. You can use exactly as many seats as needed at any given time.

The nine individual stools are easy to assemble into one beautiful sculptural form when separate seating is no longer required. Within the cube, each stool has its own designated place. Roman numerals are hand-carved into the stools to guide the assembly back into cube form. The numbering makes the process intuitive and ensures that every piece naturally finds its proper position.

Rupiikki is crafted from rescue materials — reclaimed birch that has been removed from use and given a new life as a striking, art-like piece of furniture. Each Rupiikki is individual and one of a kind. The hand-carved forms follow the natural grain of the wood, bringing vibrancy and captivating three-dimensionality to the surface.

Rupiikki seating is available in two finishes: natural light birch highlights the lively character of the material and brings a sense of lightness to the space, while a charred black finish creates a deeper, more sculptural expression and emphasizes the form’s three-dimensional quality. The plant-based wood wax used in the finishing protects the surface and can be easily reapplied when needed, ensuring the beautiful tone endures over time.

In addition to functioning as seating and an eye-catching interior element, Rupiikki also serves as a storage piece. A shelf integrated into the lower section of the cube structure provides space for storing items. In public settings, the shelf can be used for brochures or other materials.
